Russia has carried out long-range drone strikes on Ukrainian territory, often targeting energy infrastructure in an attempt to collapse the sector.

Six people have been killed and 16 injured in Ukraine by Russian attacks over the past day, regional authorities said.

Moscow launched 20 Shahed attack drones overnight, but Ukrainian air defenses shot down 14 of them, according to Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk.

Local media report that the drones were launched from the Russian port city of Primorsko-Akhtarsk in occupied Crimea.

The port of the southern Ukrainian city of Odessa was hit by the attack, according to the region’s governor, Oleh Kiper.

Two men were killed and another seriously injured. Warehouses, trucks and a ship were also reportedly destroyed.

Other people were killed in Donetsk, Kharkiv and Kherson as a result of attacks by Russian forces, according to Ukrainian media.

Russia has also targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. After a drone attack on a power plant in Rivne Oblast, some areas were left without electricity, according to state energy operator Ukrenergo.
