Knife attack in England: two children dead, six in serious condition


A teenager stabbed 13 people in north-west England on Monday, killing two children and injuring six others. The attacker was quickly arrested.

Horror scene on Monday around 11am in the small seaside town of Southport in the northwest of England. For reasons still unknown, a 17-year-old boy broke into a property where children were gathered for an event themed around the singer Taylor Swift.

The young assailant attacked them with a knife.

Thirteen victims were reported, including many children, two of whom died from their injuries. Six other children and two adults were seriously injured and are in critical condition.

As for the attacker, he was quickly arrested by the police who had been alerted.

The news of the attack caused screams and tears in the neighborhood, with the children’s parents running in panic. According to initial reports from a local journalist, many ambulances were dispatched to the scene and the rescue workers were in tears.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer responded to the attack by calling it “horrific and deeply shocking news”. In a message posted on social media, he said: “My thoughts are with everyone affected. I would like to thank the police and emergency services for their swift response.”
