King Abdullah II of Jordan said that Israel has created an entire generation of orphans due to the Israeli aggression on Gaza, adding that most of the martyrs in Gaza are women and children.
This came in a speech by the King of Jordan during his visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial in the Rwandan capital, according to a statement from the Royal Court.
He added that the number of child victims in Gaza exceeded the number of child victims in all the conflicts and wars that the world witnessed last year, and many of the surviving children lost one or both of their parents, and “we have before us an entire generation of orphans.”
He said, “About 30,000 people in the Gaza Strip have become martyrs and missing persons during the past three months, and the vast majority of them – that is, about 70% – are women and children.”
King Abdullah II stressed that the lesson that must be learned is that Israel’s “indiscriminate aggression” in Gaza will never guarantee Israel’s security.
He asked, “How can indiscriminate aggression and bombing achieve peace? How can they guarantee security when they fuel hatred?”
He stressed that without reaching a just peace based on the two-state solution, the world will continue to pay a heavy price for its failure to resolve this conflict, and “we will never be able to enjoy true peace and stability in the Middle East.”
