On the occasion of the death of his late father, the North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un attended a ceremony for laying the foundation stone of a residential complex in the suburbs of the capital.
This project is part of a large construction plan of 50,000 apartments in Pyongyang over five years. The Hwasong district, where the site takes place, has already experienced rapid development in recent years, with several residential sets finalized during the previous phases.
A speech broadcast on the national television channel
In accordance with North Korean practices, the event, which was held on Sunday, was broadcast one day after the event by KRT state television. Kim Jong -un delivered a speech during the ceremony, and – notable – his voice was broadcast. In front of an assembly of building workers, the manager activated a switch triggering explosions, symbolizing the official launch of the project.
“With the construction of 10,000 new housing units this year, the Pyongyang’s 50,000 units, launched from the party congress, finally enters its final phase”said Kim Jong-un.
