Today, Saturday, the Israeli army prevented water from reaching Jenin Governmental Hospital in the West Bank, which threatens to stop the kidney dialysis department for patients there, coinciding with the continuation of the military operations that the occupation is waging in Jenin.

The official Palestinian news agency, WAFA, said that the Israeli army prevented “water tankers belonging to the civil defense in Jenin from reaching the Jenin government hospital.”

The director of the Civil Defense Center in Jenin, Durgham Zakarneh, was quoted as saying, “The occupation army stationed in front of the gate of the government hospital prevented the defense crews from transporting water into the hospital.”

Zakarna explained that “the kidney dialysis department needs 100 cubic meters (one cubic meter equals one thousand liters) of water daily.”

The agency also quoted the director of Jenin Governmental Hospital, Wissam Bakr, warning of “the cessation of kidney dialysis services if the occupation continues to prevent the entry of water.”

She said, “Jenin Governmental Hospital has been suffering for the fourth consecutive day from a severe shortage of water, due to the destruction of the main water line feeding it as a result of the occupation’s aggression.”

Aggression and injuries

Earlier on Saturday, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said it had received “reports of injuries in the Al-Damj neighborhood in Jenin,” adding that “the occupation forces are preventing crews from reaching the site and refusing to coordinate the evacuation of the injured.”

The association also reported that “the Israeli army opened fire on one of its ambulances, despite prior coordination for its entry into Jenin camp.”

On Wednesday morning, the Israeli army launched a “military operation” in the northern West Bank, which is considered the “largest” since 2002, as large forces stormed the cities of Jenin and Tulkarm, their camps, and the Far’a camp near Tubas, before withdrawing on Thursday morning from the Far’a camp, and on the evening of the same day from Tulkarm.

This operation resulted, until Friday evening, in the martyrdom of 20 Palestinians, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

In Jenin, operations are still ongoing, as the Israeli army has sent armored forces reinforced by the air force into the city, raided parts of the Jenin camp, and focused its forces on the eastern neighborhood, which witnessed armed clashes and the sounds of explosions resulting from resistance fighters detonating explosive devices at the occupation forces, and others launched by the army.

Coinciding with its devastating war on the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army expanded its operations in the West Bank while settlers escalated their attacks, resulting in the martyrdom of 675 Palestinians since October 7, 2023, according to the Wafa News Agency, in addition to more than 5,600 wounded, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
