Palestinian journalists face unprecedented challenges amid the recent escalation in the Gaza Strip, as they seek to convey the truth at a time when the occupation’s targeting of them poses an increasing threat to their lives.

According to testimonies of journalists from inside Gaza for the episode (9/16/2024) of the “Observatory” program broadcast on the “Tel Aviv Tribune 360” platform, Israel is deliberately targeting journalists in an attempt to hide its ongoing crimes in the Gaza Strip and Palestine during its aggression.

According to reports issued by the Committee to Protect Journalists, the situation in Gaza is extremely dangerous, describing the killing of journalists as crimes unprecedented in modern history, and noting that international law provides special protection for journalists in conflict zones, but this protection appears insufficient under the current circumstances.

The reports added that the number of journalists killed in one year in the Gaza Strip exceeded the number of journalists killed during the years of World War I and the Vietnam War, which lasted 20 years.

The number of journalists targeted by the occupation in Gaza has reached 165 martyrs so far, including journalists working for Tel Aviv Tribune. Among the tragic incidents recorded recently was the martyrdom of journalist Samer Abu Daqqa, who was left bleeding for long hours after being injured, which was described as a deliberate targeting.

Many other journalists have lost their lives or been seriously injured while carrying out their professional duties.

Observers believe that these attacks on journalists are not new, but rather part of a long-term pattern that extends back to the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948. They point out that the occupation has been continuously seeking for more than seven decades to silence the voices that convey the truth about the situation in Palestine.

The last message

Despite these enormous challenges, Palestinian journalists continue their work with courage and determination. They see themselves as guardians of the truth, committed to conveying an accurate picture of what is happening on the ground, even if it costs them their lives.

In their final message to the world, these journalists stress the importance of a free press in uncovering the facts and documenting violations, and call on the international community to intervene to protect them and guarantee their right to do their work without fear of being targeted or killed.
