Occupied Jerusalem Some schools in Jerusalem opened their doors to students on Monday, while the rest of the schools will resume their academic year next week.
The city’s schools have many references, including private schools, others affiliated with the occupation municipality, known as “contractor” schools, schools affiliated with the Palestinian Authority and run by the Islamic Waqf, and schools run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
Specialized authorities estimate that the city of Jerusalem needs 80 classrooms annually, of which the occupation provides about 36 classrooms, which leads to a cumulative shortage estimated at 10,000 school seats.
