The occupation authorities announced the confiscation of Palestinian lands in Jerusalem, while launching an arrest campaign in the city that included two photojournalists and workers from the West Bank.
The Jerusalem Governorate, the highest official Palestinian local representation of the city, stated that the occupation authorities “seized, pursuant to a seizure order for military and security purposes,” an area of about 26 and a half dunums of citizens’ land in the village of Jaba, north of Jerusalem, “for the purpose of establishing a buffer zone around the Geva Benjamin settlement.” .
On the other hand, the governorate reported that the occupation forces arrested photojournalists Amir Abd Rabbo and Muhammad Al-Sharif in the Old City of Jerusalem, without further details.
In a related context, the governorate published a video clip of the arrest of a number of Palestinian workers from the West Bank while they were in Jerusalem.
Since the start of the war on Gaza, the occupation authorities have been pursuing Palestinians from the West Bank working in Israel, despite some of them possessing official work permits.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Magistrate Court postponed – during its session today – consideration of charges against the Governor of Jerusalem, Adnan Ghaith, submitted by the occupation prosecution, until February of next year.
According to a statement by the governorate, Ghaith “has been persecuted for several years in the occupation courts on charges related to his role in the city of Jerusalem.”
Earlier on Sunday, 197 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, according to a statement from the Islamic Endowments Department.
For its part, the Wadi Hilweh Information Center, a human rights activist, said that the occupation forces stormed several towns and neighborhoods in Jerusalem, including the towns of Al-Issawiya and Umm Tuba, north and east of the city, and the Al-Bustan neighborhood in the town of Silwan, where they notified a citizen of the demolition of his house.
According to data published by the governorate today, 79 Jerusalemites have been martyred and 263 injured since the occupation escalated its measures in the city coinciding with the start of the aggression against Gaza on October 7, 2023.
The governorate also monitored 1,828 arrests and 342 demolitions of Palestinian homes and facilities in the city during the same period.
