Japan is banking on the reconstruction of Ukraine after the war. During a conference in Tokyo, the two countries signed around fifty agreements in several areas.

For this trip, the Ukrainian Prime Minister was accompanied by representatives of around a hundred companies and institutions in his country.
Kyiv and Tokyo have signed around fifty agreements. In particular aid amounting to 97 million euros for mine clearance, energy and transport.
“Although the situation in Ukraine is not easy, promoting economic recovery is an investment in the future of Ukraine, Japan and the world. We want to provide strong support, including joint efforts involving the public and private sectors” said Fumio Kishida, the Prime Minister of Japan.
For its reconstruction, Ukraine will need 486 billion dollars, according to an assessment by the World Bank, the UN, the European Union and Kyiv.
While waiting for the end of this war which has lasted for almost two years, this displayed support from Japan is welcome for Ukraine, while American financial aid is no longer guaranteed.
