100 days of war
- Pro-Palestinian protests took place around the world, with the US capital, Washington, DC, seeing its largest turnout yet.
- Tel Aviv also marks the 100th day since the October 7 Hamas attack with a 24-hour event that began in Tel Aviv at 6:29 a.m., the time the attack began.
- “No one will stop us. Not The Hague,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a speech marking 100 days of war on Gaza, referring to the genocide trial the country faces at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
- The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has renewed calls for an end to the killings of journalists by the Israeli military as the war enters its 100th day.
Genocide trial
- Namibia said Germany had failed to “learn lessons from its horrific history” by supporting Israel at the ICJ, in hearings in which South Africa accused Tel Aviv of having perpetrated genocide against the Palestinians.
- The ICJ concluded its hearings in The Hague on Friday, where South Africa claimed “genocidal intent” against Israel in its war on Gaza, accusations that Israel rejected as “defamation.”
