At least 21 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the village of Aitou in northern Lebanon. In Gaza, an Israeli strike on the courtyard of al-Aqsa hospital left at least four dead.
At least 21 people were killed and eight injured in an Israeli airstrike on the village of Aïtou, a predominantly Christian village in northern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry. This is the first time that this village has been hit since the end of September, the start of open war with Israel.
The strike reportedly targeted an apartment, according to the Lebanese national agency ANI. The Israeli military has not yet made a comment and the target of the strike is not yet clear. Aïtou is far from Hezbollah’s main areas of influence in the south and east of the country.
More than 1 million people have been displaced following Israel’s airstrikes and ground invasion in southern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese government.
In Gaza, an Israeli bombing in the courtyard of the Al Aqsa Martyrs’ Hospital killed at least 4 people and burned dozens. The strike sparked a fire in a tent camp housing displaced Palestinians.
Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital was already struggling to treat large numbers of people injured in an earlier strike on a school-turned-shelter that killed 20 people.
The Hamas Ministry of Health announced the new death toll in the Palestinian territory since October 2023 at more than 42,000.
