The Israeli army forced the elderly to spot buildings with an explosive cord attached around his neck, before he was shot dead with his wife.
The Israeli army forced an 80 -year -old Palestinian to act like a human shield in Gaza by binding an explosive cord around his neck and threatening to detonate his head, an investigation by the most Israeli outing of hell Hot hell has found.
A superior officer of the Nahal brigade of the army tied the explosive cord around the man’s neck before he ordered him to overlook houses. After eight hours, the soldiers ordered the man to flee with his wife from their home in the Zeitoun district of Gaza City in May, said the +972 magazine, which reported the play in partnership with The Hot-Hot Tlace in Hell.
But when another Israeli battalion spotted the elderly couple in the street, they were slaughtered on the spot, according to Israeli soldiers present on the scene.
Israeli soldiers had initially met the couple in their house. They told Arabic -speaking soldiers that they were unable to flee south of Gaza due to mobility difficulties.
But even in his condition, the soldiers forced the 80 -year -old unnamed player to walk in front of them with his cane, while his wife was detained in their house.
A soldier told the investigation that the commander had decided to use the Palestinian couple as “mosquitoes”, referring to a procedure where the Israeli army strong the Palestinian civilians to serve as human shields to protect Israeli forces against a bullet or an explosion.
“He entered each house in front of us so that if there were (explosives) or an activist inside, he (would take it) instead of us,” said a soldier.
“He was told that if he did something wrong or did not follow the orders, the soldier behind him was drawing the cord and his head would be torn from his body.”
The man was forced to act as a human shield for eight hours, before he was ordered, with his wife, to head towards the so-called “humanitarian zone” in the south of Gaza.
But the soldiers did not care to tell the nearby Israeli divisions that the couple was going to cross the region, according to testimonies.
“After 100 meters, the other battalion saw them and immediately pulled them,” said a soldier. “They died like that, in the street.”
Tel Aviv Tribune contacted the Israeli army to comment on the reported incident.
The use by Israeli forces of Palestinian civilians as human shields has been widely reported, although it is prohibited under international law.
In August, the Israeli daily Haaretz published a presentation revealing that Israeli troops had removed Palestinian civilians, dressed them from military uniforms, attached cameras to their bodies and sent them to underground tunnels as well as buildings to protect Israeli troops.
“(I) It is difficult to recognize them. They generally carry uniforms of the Israeli army, many of them are in their twenties, and they are still with Israeli soldiers of various ranks, “said Haaretz’s article. But if you look more closely: “You see that most of them wear sneakers, not army boots. And their hands are handcuffed behind their back and their faces are full of fear. ”
In the West Bank occupied in June, Israeli forces bound an injured Palestinian in the hood of their military jeep, in an apparent use of a human shield.
Francesca Albanian, the United Nations special rapporteur in the occupied Palestinian territory, criticized the incident, the appellant “human armor in action”.
And in January 2024, the owner of the Palestinian boutique Bahaa El-Din Abu Ras, 36, said how the Israeli soldiers used it as a human shield for almost two hours in Dura, in the occupied West Bank.
“So many questions have crossed my mind: will I go back to my family?” Will I be turned or a rock struck me? Will I be arrested by these soldiers for any reason? When or how can I be released, in the middle of this area of war? Abu Ras said. “I spent about an hour and a half like that, I don’t know when I would be killed and if I would rest again.”
