An Israeli occupation army soldier admitted to detaining Palestinian prisoners and using them as human shields to explore “dangerous places” in the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to continuous Israeli aggression for the second year in a row.
Today, the American CNN news network quoted an Israeli soldier as saying, “Our unit detained two Palestinian prisoners in Gaza to use them as human shields to explore dangerous places. They passed through the rubble and at gunpoint to potentially booby-trapped buildings and into dark tunnels.”
The Israeli soldier told the network how the infantry unit in the occupation army used two Palestinians as human shields, saying, “We ordered them to enter the building before us. If there were any traps, they would explode, not us.”
The Israeli soldier explained that a 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old young man were brought to his unit in the occupation army, noting that “their hands were tied behind their backs and they were blindfolded.”
The soldier confirmed that the instructions in this regard came from the Israeli intelligence officer who handed them over, “who ordered me to take them in the next attack and use them as a human shield and told me that they had a connection to Hamas.”
When the soldier asked about this practice, he said that one of his commanders told him, “It is better for the Palestinian to explode, not our soldiers.”
For two days, his unit followed these orders – according to the soldier – who recorded a frightening picture of the scene, saying, “The young Palestinian man remained surrounded by two soldiers ordering him to advance, and when we went to the site of the attack, before they entered the building, we raised the cloth so that he could see. The soldier said that he and his comrades refused to continue this practice after two days and confronted their commander-in-chief about it. But their leader asked them from the beginning not to “think about international law,” saying that their lives were “more important.”
