The Israeli Broadcasting Authority quoted security officials as opposing the imposition of military administration in the Gaza Strip, as they believe that this would require costs of up to 20 billion shekels (about 5.5 billion dollars) annually, and 400 additional jobs in the army.

The authority added, quoting the same sources, that managing the sector means responsibility for 2.3 million people and requires 5 permanent military divisions.

Israel has been continuing its war on Gaza with American support for about 11 months. International experts have described it as genocide, as tens of thousands have been killed, injured, and missing, most of them children and women. Entire families have been erased from the civil registry, and nearly 70% of the civilian infrastructure, including homes, schools, and hospitals, has been destroyed.

Israeli press reports stated that the army created a new position called “Head of Civilian Humanitarian Efforts in the Gaza Strip” to manage humanitarian aspects and coordinate civil affairs, in a move aimed at consolidating the occupation of the Strip for a long period.

Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper said that Brigadier General Elad Goren will assume this new position, adding that this position is equivalent to the position of head of the Israeli Civil Administration in the West Bank.
