The Israeli newspaper Haaretz said that 8 members of the Knesset (Parliament) called on Defense Minister Yisrael Katz to “cleanse” the northern Gaza Strip of residents, by issuing an order to destroy all sources of water, food, and energy.
According to what the newspaper published yesterday, Friday, the eight representatives – who are members of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee – called on the Israeli army to use the siege, destroy infrastructure, and kill anyone who “does not raise the white flag” in the northern Gaza Strip. They also called for this policy to be used in other parts of the sector.
Earlier, the newspaper “Israel Today” reported that the eight representatives asked the Minister of Defense to implement the so-called generals’ plan and impose military rule to eliminate the Hamas movement.
This coincides with other reports in the Israeli press stating that Israel is considering a significant reduction in the amount of humanitarian aid – already scarce – that it allows to enter the Gaza Strip, after the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump on January 20.
The generals’ plan – proposed by former Israeli general Giora Eiland to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu – stipulates a siege and starvation of the population in the northern Gaza Strip in order to displace them, and to place Hamas fighters before the choice of death or surrender.
Although Israel denies implementing the generals’ plan, since October 5, it has launched a devastating attack on the northern Gaza Strip, which led to the death and injury of thousands of Palestinians, the displacement of tens of thousands, and the destruction of hospitals and infrastructure, coinciding with a stifling siege.
This comes as the war of extermination continues in the entire sector for the 15th month in a row, with the number of martyrs and wounded reaching more than 153,000, and the majority of civilian infrastructure, including homes, schools, and hospitals, has been destroyed.
