Raids and settler attacks on the occupied territory have intensified since the start of the Gaza war.

Israeli raids in the northern West Bank have killed three Palestinians, authorities say, as violence in the occupied territory escalates amid the Gaza war.

Israeli forces killed a Palestinian in the town of Jenin and two others in the town of Arraba, the Palestinian Health Ministry announced on Saturday.

During the incursion, the Israeli army damaged infrastructure, including roads and electrical transformers, the Palestinian Wafa news agency reported.

This deadly raid adds to the hundreds of Palestinian victims in the West Bank since the start of the war in Gaza between Israel and the Palestinian armed group Hamas.

Israeli forces have killed at least 185 Palestinians and injured 2,500 people in the West Bank in just over a month, according to Palestinian authorities.

Israeli forces are also tightening movement restrictions and carrying out mass arrests of Palestinians in the region.

Mohammed Jamjoom, Al Jazeera correspondent from Ramallah, said raids have intensified significantly in the occupied West Bank over the past week.

“There are up to about 40 raids a day,” Jamjoom said. “This is a considerable increase from where they were at the start of the year, throughout 2023, when they had become an almost daily occurrence. »

In addition to the raids, West Bank residents are also facing increased violence from armed Israeli settlers.

Settlers have killed at least eight Palestinians and forced hundreds from their homes since October 7, according to Palestinian officials.

“Now (the settlers) are a little more emboldened by the fact that there is a war (ongoing),” Adam Bouloukos, director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Refugees, told Al of Palestine (UNRWA) in the West Bank. Jazira.

“And their violence is much more considerable and much more deadly.”

Israel vowed to eliminate Hamas in response to its Oct. 7 attacks in the south, which killed about 1,200 people, according to Israeli officials.

Since then, Israel has waged a relentless bombing campaign in Hamas-ruled Gaza, killing at least 11,078 people, including more than 4,500 children, according to Palestinian officials.
