On Monday morning, Israeli police forcefully dispersed dozens of protesters who disrupted the entrance to the Knesset in West Jerusalem, demanding urgent elections and the resignation of the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. One of the protesters was arrested, according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

The demonstrators gathered near the Knesset, where they demanded the overthrow of the government and the holding of immediate elections, due to its failure to deal with the October 7 attack and its strategy for managing the war. According to the newspaper, some of the protest organizers had their family members killed on October 7th.

Quoting Haaretz, one of the protesters, named Roni, said that his brother was killed because of “one man who waged his own war against Israel for 8 years just to stay alive, avoid justice, and continue to plunder our money,” in reference to Netanyahu.

Rooney stressed that there is no country in the world that has been reformed and whose Prime Minister has not resigned the next day.

This is not the first time that Israelis have demonstrated to demand the resignation of Netanyahu’s government. According to the Times of Israel, thousands of protesters gathered in Tel Aviv and outside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s home in Caesarea on Saturday night, demanding immediate new elections in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.

On the 7th of last October, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and other Palestinian factions launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, in response to the ongoing Israeli attacks against the Palestinian people, in which they launched an attack on the Israeli settlements around the Gaza Strip, resulting in the killing of about 1,500 Israelis at the beginning. The battle, and about 250 others were captured.
