Israeli media: The failure of the warning system raises questions about the effectiveness of the defenses policy

Israeli media reported on what they described as the failure of the Israeli defense and warning system to repel the Hezbollah drone, which succeeded in penetrating the air defenses and causing casualties in the Binyamina area.

According to Channel 12 correspondent Hadar Ghitis, Hezbollah launched a double attack with several missiles towards Western Galilee and two drones, one of which was intercepted, while the other was able to hit its target, leaving 4 dead and 67 wounded.

Gates pointed out that the sirens did not sound in the targeted area, which requires an investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, Channel 11 correspondent in Haifa, Khin Biar, emphasized the increasing difficulties in intercepting these drones, noting that this is not the first incident of its kind.

For his part, Channel 13’s military affairs correspondent, Or Heller, described the attack as a “direct, very difficult and very bad strike,” noting that this attack occurred despite the presence of Israeli army forces on Lebanese territory, with 4 military divisions and 1,000 soldiers.

Heller stressed that this strike deep inside Israel poses a major challenge to the Israeli army.

Political settlement

In light of these developments, the former Minister of the Likud Party, Limor Livnat, expressed her concern about the direction in which events were taking, and wondered whether anyone was seeking a political settlement, warning that things might end differently if a political solution was not sought.

Regarding expectations about an Israeli strike on a military target in Iran, Kan 11’s political affairs correspondent, Suleiman Maswad, reported increasing estimates about Israel and the United States seeking to strike a military target in Iran.

However, he pointed out that there were disagreements about the appropriate location and timing for such a strike, and added that this issue was raised in the phone call between US President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Regarding the circumstances of the postponement of Defense Minister Yoav Galant’s visit to Washington, Channel 12’s political affairs correspondent, Yaron Abraham, said that this postponement comes based on a condition set by Prime Minister Netanyahu, which is the issuance of a final decision by the small council on the form and timing of the Israeli response to Iran.

He added that Israeli sources claim that the United States believes that Israel needs more time to moderate its response or choose a different response.

Channel 13 political affairs analyst, Gil Tamari, quoted American sources as saying that they have no problem with a strong Israeli response, provided that it is proportionate to the Iranian attack.

The fighting continues

He added that Washington has set two red lines: not targeting Iranian nuclear and oil facilities, referring to a CNN report stating that Iran is in a state of extreme tension over the possibility of Israel attacking its oil facilities.

For his part, Channel 12 military affairs correspondent, Nir Davori, revealed plans to deploy American anti-ballistic missile defense batteries in Israel for the first time.

He explained that this step comes within the framework of joint preparation for a possible Iranian response to the imminent Israeli operation, noting the possibility of seeing more ballistic missile launches in the coming weeks.

While fighting continues on all fronts, Channel 13’s military affairs correspondent, Or Heller, described the current situation as “a Yom Kippur like we have never seen before,” noting that fighting in southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip continues without stopping even during Yom Kippur.

For his part, Channel 13 police affairs correspondent, Yossi Eli, warned of the increase in individual operations in the recent period.

He pointed out that there is widespread incitement to carry out operations on social media networks, with calls from the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to carry out more attacks. He added that the Israeli security services fear the outbreak of a new intifada by lone attackers.
