Israeli Channel 12 quoted sources as saying that Israel is considering reducing the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza when US President-elect Donald Trump takes office on January 20.
The Israeli announcement to study reducing the entry of aid with the arrival of Trump coincides with the United Nations condemning the death of infants due to the cold in Gaza, warning that about a million people in the Strip still need assistance to protect against winter conditions.
The International Organization for Migration said it was deeply concerned about the devastating impact of rain and low temperatures on displaced Palestinians, which “exacerbates the unparalleled humanitarian catastrophe” in Gaza.
The United Nations organization added, in a statement, that heavy rains and floods flooded displacement sites and temporary camps, leaving families in harsh conditions struggling to repair tents that had been dilapidated as a result of months of use.
The statement explained that the imposed restrictions “severely hampered” the delivery of aid, as only 285,000 people have received support to obtain shelter since last September.
An ongoing disaster
The International Organization for Migration’s statement comes with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, confirming that the human rights catastrophe in the Gaza Strip continues in the eyes of the world, as a result of the genocide committed by Israel about 15 months ago.

Turk stressed that Israel’s intentional targeting of hospitals in Gaza violates international law and constitutes a war crime, pointing out that the deliberate destruction of health facilities may amount to a form of collective punishment, and may constitute a war crime.
Comprehensive investigation
Turk stated that the attacks carried out by Israel around and inside hospitals had a terrible impact on healthcare services, calling for an independent, comprehensive and transparent investigation into all attacks on hospitals, healthcare infrastructure and healthcare workers in Gaza.
