Israeli media: Officials’ incitement against the Palestinians in Gaza cost Israel dearly in The Hague News

In its discussions with analysts and experts, Israeli media focused on the negative repercussions of statements made by Israeli officials regarding the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on the lawsuit filed against Israel at the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

The statements of Knesset member Nissim Faturi, in which he renewed the call to burn Gaza, sparked great controversy in those discussions, considering that they harm Israel in light of the ongoing arguments in the International Court of Justice.

The correspondent in the Knesset for Kan TV, Dekla Aharon Shafran, said, “It was difficult for her to hear the combination of the two words, Israel and genocide, many times, and also that Israel is carrying out the genocide of a people.”

Shafran added – in her talk on Israeli Channel 12 – that during the plea in the International Court of Justice, they say that Israel is now carrying out random killings against innocent citizens, “and it must be admitted that watching this was very difficult.”

A member of the Knesset from the Labor Party, Rab Gilad Kariv, criticized the statements of Fattore and others, saying, “Those who made the irresponsible, dangerous, and, in my opinion, non-Jewish statements are those who demanded that Israel not go to The Hague,” and described them as a “destruction group,” calling on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu must not evade responsibility, and must hit the table in front of his extremist ministers.

Krif wondered whether these people, including Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and the “Atomic Bombs” Minister – Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu, who called for the use of a real nuclear bomb in Gaza – would continue repeating their statements until the International Court of Justice’s decision was written and “make the hesitant judges issue a ruling against us.”

For his part, Professor Hamihai Cohen, a member of the administration at the Faculty of Law at the Ono Academic Village, said, “The decision that will be issued by the court is very important, even if it is against Israel,” pointing out that the decision issued unanimously by the judges differs from a decision that is not issued unanimously.

Krif warned, “The effects of a very negative and bad decision against the State of Israel could be very dangerous, and we must do everything we can to prevent that.”

As for the criminal law specialist, lawyer Ofer Bertal, he stressed that the International Court of Justice is witnessing “a legal debate at a high level that is not exaggerated,” and that he would have been pleased if the debate had been immersed in politics.

The International Court of Justice in The Hague witnessed hearings to consider the case brought by South Africa regarding the Israeli military attack on the Gaza Strip. In the case, Israel was accused of committing genocide crimes in contravention of the 1948 United Nations Convention on the Prevention of Genocide, which South Africa and Israel had signed. .
