The Israeli media focused its focus on the developments in the ceasefire agreement negotiations and the exchange of prisoners between Tel Aviv and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), as well as the major escalation on the northern front after the assassination of a prominent leader in the Lebanese Hezbollah.

According to the Israeli channel “Kan 11”, Hamas presented a more stringent response – after two weeks of waiting – to US President Joe Biden’s proposal, revealing that the movement wants to add Russia, China and Turkey to the list of guarantor countries of the upcoming agreement, in addition to the United States, Egypt and Qatar.

She indicated that this request will be rejected by Israel, as will the United States, especially because of the inclusion of Russia and China among the guarantor countries of the negotiations and the agreement that will result from them.

In the same context, Israeli Channel 13 said that Hamas is demanding that the reconstruction process of the Gaza Strip be advanced from the third stage to the first stage dedicated to releasing prisoners, and it also wants a pledge from Israel that it will not resume firing regardless of the failure to reach consensus on the next stages after the first stage.

In addition, Hamas absolutely rejects that Israel has the right to veto the names of Palestinian prisoners who will be included in the expected exchange deal.

It also refuses to deport those who will be released to Gaza, and demands the return of the Palestinians of 1948 and the West Bank to their areas, according to the channel, which said that Israel is seeking to prevent this, considering that Hamas has made very significant amendments to the proposal, ruling out at the present time the possibility of reaching a deal.

In turn, Israeli Channel 7 quoted Jonathan Goldberg (the father of an Israeli prisoner in Gaza) as saying that “a deal must be reached as quickly as possible for everyone,” adding that “in 250 days we rescued 7 kidnapped (prisoners) through military operations and 105 through negotiations.”

North developments

On the northern front, the Israeli channel “Kan 11” said that Hezbollah had received a moral blow after the assassination of its prominent leader, Talib Sami Abdullah, and highlighted what the Lebanese newspaper “Al-Akhbar”, which is close to the party, said about the operation, saying that it opened the door to different behavior, and “ “Israel must be prepared to be subjected to severe blows, perhaps within the framework of different rules of confrontation.”

On the military level, Alon Ben David, a military affairs analyst on Israeli Channel 13, said that the main source of concern is that Israel will reach “a battle in the north at a time that we did not choose.”

Ben David added, “There is a possibility that one of Hezbollah’s missiles could hit a civilian target, cause casualties, and drag Israel into a battle in Lebanon in circumstances that it did not specify and were not of its choosing,” stressing that this possibility is increasing and the Israeli army is aware of this.

In turn, Member of the Knesset (Parliament) from the Likud Party, Khanoch Milevitsky, called for the necessity of liquidating and eliminating Hezbollah, “not negotiating with it and listening to it, nor also reaching an agreement with it.”
