Israeli media said that the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), was able to recruit new fighters into its ranks in the northern Gaza Strip, and is using unexploded Israeli bombs to target the Israeli forces penetrating there.

Israeli Army Radio reported – in a report yesterday evening, Tuesday, citing military sources – details of this during an explanation to the Israeli army about part of its operations in the northern Gaza Strip.

According to the radio, the army says that some of the Qassam Brigades fighters, against whom the fighting is taking place in the northern Gaza Strip, are veterans and were part of the Qassam before October 7, 2023, and that some of them were recently recruited.

Israeli Radio added that the army also estimates that “the explosives used by terrorists in the area are partly made from unexploded Israeli army bombs.”

Al-Qassam has been documenting its operations against the occupation army, including what it published earlier about setting an Israeli foot force into an ambush by booby-trapping a house with a GBU missile, which is one of the remnants of the occupation army during its aggression against the Gaza Strip.

The clip included monitoring the occupation soldiers entering the booby-trapped house before it was detonated, and the scene ended with the phrase, “Your goods were returned to you,” indicating that the missile that was detonated in the Israeli force was one of the occupation army’s ammunition that did not explode after its launch.

Al-Qassam also said, in previous scenes, that it was bombing occupation gatherings in the Netzarim axis using occupation army artillery shells and installing them on “107” missiles, and accompanying those scenes with the phrase “Your goods have been returned to you.”

Army Radio pointed out that this detail comes after the fall of 3 soldiers in Beit Hanoun during the last 24 hours, and with the fall of 43 soldiers in the last three months in the entire northern Gaza Strip, as part of the army forces’ explanation of the goal of the operation carried out by the 162nd Division in the region.

According to the army, the goal of the operation, which has been ongoing for more than 3 months, is to create a security space for the residents of the northern Gaza envelope (the Israeli settlements adjacent to and near the Gaza Strip) and to create conditions for them to live safely in the region, according to the same source.

The radio quoted senior officers participating in the fighting in the region as explaining that although the army carried out a maneuver at the beginning of the war in the northern Gaza Strip, this time the talk was about an operation aimed at “purging the entire region of terrorist infrastructure,” as they said.

It quoted senior Israeli army officials as saying, “This is not a raid, but rather a maneuver to completely destroy the enemy and the infrastructure. We have reached areas whose goal is so that the army will not have to return to them anymore.”

The radio added, “The Israeli army refers to the criticism directed at the high cost of the operation in the northern Gaza Strip and its long duration, and says that conducting a complete occupation and cleansing operation takes a long time that could reach months.”

However, the occupation army explains that those it calls saboteurs can return to this area in the future, but it wants to make sure that it will be very difficult for them to return there, according to the same source.

After the Kfir Brigade left the northern Gaza Strip, the army estimated that the Beit Lahia area was “completely destroyed and cleared,” according to Israeli Army Radio.

Earlier on Tuesday evening, the army announced that the Kfir Brigade forces had completed their missions in the northern Gaza Strip that began three months ago, during which 12 of its officers and soldiers were killed and dozens were injured.

Since October 2024, the forces of the aforementioned brigade have participated, along with other Israeli forces, in the ongoing fighting in Beit Lahia, Jabalia Camp, and Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip.

Since October 6, 2024, the Israeli army began a massive invasion, not the first since the beginning of the genocide, in the northern Gaza Strip, which left widespread destruction and resulted in the killing of 43 Israeli officers and soldiers in total, according to Army Radio, while on the Palestinian side it left more than 4,000 dead and missing. In addition to 12 thousand wounded.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American military support, has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip that has resulted in more than 155,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing persons, amid massive destruction and worsening famine.
