Tamir Pardo, a former head of the Israeli intelligence service (Mossad), accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu – who he said had placed on his flag the slogan “Absolute Victory” – of leading Israel to absolute failure.
This statement came in the context of a discussion on Israeli channels about the fate of the ongoing battles in the Gaza Strip and the consequences of escalation on the northern front.
Pardo added to Israeli Channel 13, “The prime minister who leads this country or government did not develop a plan, and when the terrible failure occurred on October 7, the State of Israel was not prepared with any plan.”
Alon Ben David, military affairs correspondent for Channel 13, pointed out that there is a great fear within the Israeli army that officials do not want to end the war in Gaza, and want to continue the fierce fighting in order to avoid dealing with more complex problems such as the problem of the north.
In the same context, Ben David recalled the statement of army spokesman Daniel Hagari, in which he said, “Talk about eliminating the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) is ashes of ashes in the eyes of the public.”
The Channel 13 correspondent pointed out that “eliminating the idea of Hamas cannot happen in the absence of a political alternative. That is, if there is no alternative body to rule in the Gaza Strip, Hamas will remain.”
He acknowledged that “Hamas is still in place, operating and controlling most of the Gaza Strip’s areas, and is waging a battle to maintain its positions in accordance with the rules.”
As for Israel Ziv, former head of the operations division in the army, he saw that being drawn into a battle in the north is not in Israel’s interest, “because this battle will not only be against Hezbollah, Iran will be part of it, and the rest of the proxies, and the Americans do not say in vain that it will be a war.” Inclusive”.
He considered that Israel’s entry into a comprehensive regional war is a bad thing, because it is greatly exhausted after 9 months of war, and one of its legs is still stuck in Gaza, in addition to the fact that it has a crisis with the Americans. He said that Israel must first end the war in Gaza.
