The Israeli “Wala” news website revealed yesterday evening, Friday, that 4,000 Israeli soldiers have been disabled since the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip, with the number likely to rise to 30,000.

In this context, the site considered that the attack by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) last October 7 led Israel into a war that it had never witnessed before in terms of the number of wounded soldiers, but more importantly, the injuries were very serious.

He added that the Israeli army does not provide all the information about the wounded to the public, for fear that this will lead to a decline in people’s morale.

He continued that currently, about 4,000 soldiers have been recognized as having disabilities according to “Classification 3,” which means that they are entitled to all the treatments and rights enjoyed by a disabled person in the Israeli army, without being officially recognized as such.

He pointed out that the injured soldiers are paid salaries and are treated even without having to prove anything, indicating that their rehabilitation process will begin as soon as possible to return them to normal life.

Serious cases

The website quoted Idan Kaliman, head of the Organization for the Disabled in the Israeli Army, saying that for every physical therapist we worked with, we now ask for 4 to cover the number of wounded, and the same applies to all other therapeutic professions.

Kaliman added, “We need to triple our strength at once for the benefit of our soldiers and we are ready to face this challenge. I have been in the regime for 30 years. I have never encountered such a number of wounded, and their condition is very serious.”

He pointed out that there were many wounded people whose limbs were amputated and who were blinded and paralyzed.

The Israeli army announced the recruitment of 360,000 reserve soldiers in the ongoing war against the Gaza Strip since October 7, while the ground operation began on the 27th of the same month.

Published army data indicate that the number of officers and soldiers killed since the beginning of the war reached 520, including 186 since the beginning of the ground attack in the Gaza Strip.
