Two Palestinian institutions said that Israel transferred a young Palestinian man suffering from cancer to detention after an Israeli military court issued a decision to release him.

The Palestine Liberation Organization’s Prisoners’ and Ex-Prisoners’ Affairs Authority and the Prisoners’ Club stated in a joint statement that the Israeli occupation intelligence transferred the detainee suffering from cancer, Muhammad Zayed Khudairat (21 years old), from the town of Al-Dhahiriya in the Hebron Governorate, to administrative detention for a period starting from yesterday, Sunday, until November 30. /November 2024.

The statement explained that the Khudairat family was preparing to receive their son yesterday, “but they were surprised by his administrative detention order.”

There was no statement issued by the relevant Israeli authorities regarding the failure to release Khudaira, who has been detained since June 1, from his home and transfer him to administrative detention.

Israel applies an old British law that allows it to detain Palestinians without trial for a period ranging between 3 and 6 months, subject to renewal, under the pretext of the existence of a secret security file for the detainee.

The statement reviewed Khudairat’s health condition, noting that “since childhood, he suffered from a tumor in the lymph nodes and underwent long treatment, after which the tumor was controlled. However, the tumor reappeared about a year ago, and he is still undergoing treatment.”

The statement added, “It was decided shortly before his arrest that he would be provided with doses of biological treatment in accordance with the treatment protocol prescribed for him by Al-Najah National Hospital. He had received two doses out of 14 doses before his arrest.”

The statement stated that since Khudairat’s arrest, “he has not undergone any treatment and was not allowed to take his prescribed medications, even though the family had insisted on giving the medications to the force that arrested him, as the occupation transferred him at the beginning of his arrest to (Etzion) detention center and then to (Ramla) prison.” .

The statement added, “In the court session held for him last Thursday, Muhammad told his father, who communicated with him via video conference technology, ‘I am dying.'”

Official Palestinian statistics indicate that Israel detains more than 9,300 Palestinians in its prisons, including 3,400 in administrative detention. Among those administratively detained are 40 children and 23 female detainees.

The statement stated that during the recent period, Israel adopted “a policy of administrative detention in a manner unprecedented in history against thousands of citizens, including the sick, the wounded, the elderly, children, and women.”
