On Monday, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz called for the opening of an independent investigation into the killing of three Israeli detainees with poison gas thrown by the Israeli army inside a tunnel in Gaza, according to what the mother of one of the detainees said.
The newspaper asked, “Did the Israeli army use poison gas in Gaza to kill people in the tunnels? And if it used such a tactic, is this legal under the laws of war to which Israel is bound?”
She continued, “Are the lives of the hostages taken into account when making decisions about the tunnels?”
Haaretz stressed that all these questions must be examined and it cannot wait until the end of the war to conduct this vital investigation.
The mother of Israeli soldier Ron Sherman (19 years old), who was detained by the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip, accused the Israeli army of deliberately killing her son during the assassination of the commander of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) – Ahmed Al-Ghandour in Jabalia, north of sector last November.

During the attack, the resistance killed about 1,200 Israelis, wounded about 5,431, and captured at least 239, exchanging dozens of them with Israel during a temporary humanitarian truce.
