A former Israeli general acknowledged the defeat of the Israeli occupation army before the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip, warning of Israel’s inability to fight a “possible regional war in the region,” in light of the ongoing escalation with Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s rejection of a prisoner exchange deal with the resistance movement. Islamic (Hamas).
In an article in the Maariv newspaper, Reserve General Yitzhak Brik said, “Israel lost the war on the Gaza front with Hamas, partly due to the erosion of our ground army to the bone in the past 20 years.”
Brick – whom the Israelis call the “Prophet of Wrath” because of his prediction of the October 7 attack – believes that Israel “is not prepared for a regional war that may erupt due to the ongoing escalation with Hezbollah in Lebanon, and with Benjamin Netanyahu continuing to reject a prisoner exchange deal with… Hamas”.
Brik, who previously served as a brigade commander in the armored forces of the Israeli occupation army, affirmed, “The regional war due to the ongoing escalation is much closer than Israel believes, and constitutes a direct existential threat to the State of Israel.”
Horror scenario
The former Israeli general said, “Within the framework of this war, more than 3,000 missiles, shells, and drones will be launched from Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen daily on the Israeli home front, which are population centers.”
He added, “The enemy will also do everything in its power to destroy water and electricity plants, fuel and gas storage facilities, infrastructure, transportation and industries, including IDF camps on land, air and sea, and will destroy our country.”
He also pointed out the possibility of Iran and Hezbollah exploiting the Jordanian front, and also the possibility of the Egypt front igniting due to the poor relationship with it, in addition to the Palestinians of 1948 joining the confrontation, and stressed the inability of the occupation to fight on 6 fronts.
He said, “Those who follow the destruction of our settlements in the north realize that we do not have any real defense against Hezbollah’s missiles, missiles, and drones, and the destruction of our settlements in the north that is happening to us now is not compared to what will be destroyed in a comprehensive regional war in 6 sectors at the same time.”
Titanic fate
He also warned of “the danger threatening the residents of Tel Aviv and the central region, which includes about 4 million Israelis and is considered the beating heart of Israel.”
He explained, “The residents of the Gush Dan area, who continue their lives as usual, and are filled with restaurants and cafes, remind me of travelers on board the luxury ship Titanic on its way to collide with an iceberg.”
He justifies his conviction by saying, “Israel does not have the ability to withstand for more than a few days, because it does not have a stock of ammunition, spare parts, and equipment, and the logistics service providers are civilians who are not qualified to work in the midst of battle.”
He stressed that the Israeli forces face a shortage of weapons and equipment, and that the ground forces have eroded in the past twenty years. He cited this by saying, “The army cannot even maintain more than one division for a short period in the territory of the Gaza Strip that it occupied, as it has no surplus forces after reducing 6 divisions, and there is no one to replace the fighting forces.”
But he considered that Israel “still has time to make amends and find solutions,” referring to the proposals he presented for the participation of five teams of experts to prepare a program to restore the capabilities of the occupation army.
He stressed that the radical solution is “the immediate replacement of those responsible for the failure of last October 7 at the political and military levels, and the formation of a new government that has the ability to put the train back on its track.”
