Israeli forces intensify their offensive in northern Gaza and kill 55 in the enclave | Israeli-Palestinian conflict News

Twelve bodies were found in the Jabalia refugee camp, where the Israeli army launched a ground offensive 11 days ago.

Dozens of Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, including in Jabalia in the north, where the Israeli army launched an offensive 11 days ago.

At least 55 people were killed in the past 24 hours in the enclave, Gaza’s health ministry said Tuesday, and at least 12 bodies were found after an Israeli attack near al-Faluja, in the besieged Jabalia refugee camp.

Mahmoud Basal, spokesman for the Palestinian Civil Defense in Gaza, said seven of those killed belonged to the al-Sayed family. He said their bodies were buried in the family home.

The other five bodies were found in the streets of the neighborhood, Basal said.

In another incident, Israeli forces attacked the Birkat Abu Rashid camp area, killing at least three people and injuring several others, according to Tel Aviv Tribune’s Anas al-Sharif, reporting from the scene.

In the aftermath of the airstrike, rescuers were seen frantically helping survivors out of a badly damaged building, with one man carrying an injured child.

Residents told Tel Aviv Tribune that troops were planting barrels filled with explosives in the ground in al-Faluja to destroy buildings and homes.

“Unimaginable loss”

Over the past year, Israeli troops have repeatedly returned to the Jabalia refugee camp, which dates back to the 1948 war that surrounded the creation of Israel.

The attack on Jabalia follows Israeli orders to completely evacuate northern Gaza, including Gaza City. According to United Nations estimates, around 400,000 Palestinians remain in the north.

The U.N. human rights office said Tuesday that the Israeli military appeared to be “completely cutting off northern Gaza from the rest of the Gaza Strip.”

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said: “Amid intense hostilities and evacuation orders in northern Gaza, families are facing unimaginable fear, loss of loved ones, confusion and exhaustion. People must be able to escape safely, without facing further dangers. »

Fight elsewhere

An Israeli airstrike on Tuesday destroyed several houses on al-Sinaa Street, west of Gaza City, and two bodies were found, according to civil defense.

The search continues for 12 other people believed to be in the houses at the time, he added.

Meanwhile, in central Gaza, four Palestinians were killed when a house was hit in the Nuseirat camp belonging to the al-Salhi family, civil defense said.

In southern Gaza, at least 10 people from a family were killed and many others injured in Bani Suheila, eastern Khan Younis, following an Israeli air raid on a house.

“The killing machine has not stopped at all. Throughout the night, heavy artillery and air strikes were carried out in the southern part of the Gaza Strip,” Tel Aviv Tribune’s Hani Mahmoud said from Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.

“They thought they were protected and safe, but that’s not the case anymore. This reinforced everyone’s broken sense of security in eastern Khan Younis,” Mahmoud said.

In another attack, six members of a family were killed in al-Fukhari district of Khan Younis.

The Health Ministry said Tuesday that at least 42,289 people have been killed and 98,684 injured in Gaza in Israeli attacks since October 2023.
