Israeli expert and academic Eran Yashib wrote in the Haaretz newspaper that the relationship of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu – the international criminal required for war crimes – with US President Donald Trump is going through its worst stages, indicating that the latter is about to take a position to remove Netanyahu.
“A person needs high maintenance,” said Yasib, a professor at Tel Aviv University and the former head of the National Economy and Security Program at the Institute of National Security Studies.
He added that Trump, who deals with Israel with the logic of “investment”, is no longer interested in pumping more money in projects that are not accustomed to him or his country directly, indicating that Israel received US military aid last year about 18 billion dollars.
“Trump does not want to continue investing in Ukraine or Israel, and he does not see in the escalation of the Middle East as part of his agenda. On the contrary, he seeks economic agreements that guarantee him and his family personal gains, similar to what happened with Abraham’s agreements, and believes that Netanyahu hinders these endeavors.”
The Israeli expert explained that Trump wants to reach an agreement with Saudi Arabia that strengthens his economic interests, but Netanyahu, with his escalating policies towards Iran and Gaza, is an obstacle to this ambition.
“Gaza’s chaos”
The writer stated that Washington has become aware that Netanyahu prevents any real political alternative to stay in the Gaza Strip, which increases the chaos that Trump does not want to get involved.
Yashib pointed out that Trump is currently preferring to strengthen his relationship with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, more than his alliance with the “Netanyahu group”, stressing that Trump and his team are convinced that no progress can be achieved as long as Netanyahu is in power, and that they have Israeli political alternatives “more mature and ready.”
On the international level, Yashib believes that Netanyahu is almost completely isolated, as he does not have any real support from the traditional Western leaders, not even from figures such as Russian President Vladimir Putin or Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who are prepared by Trump’s acceptable figures.
He pointed out that international arrest warrants were issued against Netanyahu in a number of European countries, which made it a burden even on the closest allies.
A study of alternative to Netanyahu
The writer said that the current US administration officials realize that Netanyahu is weak and vulnerable to political extortion, and that he is constantly delaying them, and even deceiving them sometimes.
He added that Washington has already started studying Israeli political alternatives that can be promoted in the coming period, amid increasing support in the Israeli interior to hold early elections.
In this context, he pointed out that the United States has a great influence over the Jewish religious parties, which may play a decisive role in the next stage, and it can drop the government if it wanted.
He called on these parties to cooperate in order to secure their interests in the next government, warning that their intransigence may lead them to a loss due to “limitations of their leaders.”
With regard to the extremist right parties, such as the “Religious Zionism” party led by Bamtalil Smotrich, Yashib said that the United States is aware of its weak political weight, noting that some of these parties may not exceed the rate of decisiveness in the upcoming elections.
The Israeli expert concluded his article that Netanyahu’s dismissal scenario may be accompanied by his transfer to the United States as part of a legal deal that closes his judicial files.
He stressed that Trump has begun to lose his patience, and does not want to link his political heritage with the “loser” who may make his accomplishments to corrosion, considering that the moment of the displacement of Netanyahu is imminent.
