The Israeli Walla website reported on Monday that estimates by the army and security services confirm that the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), still possess hundreds of rockets and mortar shells of various types.

The website added that the movement is working diligently to restore manufacturing lines, after a year of war during which thousands of rockets were fired towards Israel.

The Israeli website did not provide specific numbers regarding Hamas’s missile capabilities, but the estimates it provided came after Al-Qassam launched a missile salvo targeting Tel Aviv today.

Israeli media indicated that the army’s failure to thwart the Hamas missile attack meant that the movement’s command and control capabilities were not undermined.

Bombing of Tel Aviv

The Al-Qassam Brigades announced that they bombed Tel Aviv this morning with a missile barrage, as part of the ongoing battle of attrition, and in response to the Israeli massacres and displacement of Palestinians.

The bombing of Tel Aviv coincided with the first anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Flood Battle, which was initiated by the Palestinian resistance factions on October 7, 2023.

This is the first time that Al-Qassam has bombed Tel Aviv since it bombed this city and its suburbs with two M-90 missiles on August 13.

The internal occupation front said that sirens sounded in Greater Tel Aviv and central Israel, and the Israeli Broadcasting Authority explained that the area was targeted by missiles launched from the Gaza Strip.

The occupation army radio confirmed that 5 missiles were launched towards Tel Aviv from the Khan Yunis area in the southern Gaza Strip. Israeli media said that the army bombed the platform from which the rockets were launched in Gaza.

M90 missile

The M-90 missile that the Qassam Brigades used in their recent bombing of Tel Aviv was manufactured locally by the Qassam Brigades in the Gaza Strip in 2022. It was then officially put into service for the first time in 2023 during the Battle of Al-Aqsa Flood.

Al-Qassam called it (Al-Maqadma-M90), after Ibrahim Al-Maqadma, one of the founders of the Al-Qassam Brigades and its commander in 1992.

The missile is 6 meters long, relatively heavy, and requires at least 8 people to carry, transport and launch it.

It carries a large explosive warhead, weighing 50 kilograms, which gives it a high explosive capacity. Its maximum effective range is 90 kilometers, meaning it can reach areas even further than Tel Aviv.
