The Israeli Channel 12 said that the occupation army is facing difficulty in eliminating the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades in the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, and that it may end the military operation without achieving this.

The channel quoted Israeli sources as saying that there are still resistance forces waging war in the Gaza Strip and capable of harming Israeli army soldiers.

The same sources added that the mini-ministerial council approved that the ground military operation be focused on the Philadelphia axis instead of Rafah.

Unit 8200 faulty

The same channel published new details about Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, which was launched by the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), at dawn on October 7, 2023, on the settlements surrounding the Gaza Strip.

The channel reported that on the night of October 6, 2023, 7 and a half hours before the attack, a defect occurred in the technological system of Unit 8200 of the Israeli Military Intelligence Service, and specialized soldiers were called in to troubleshoot them.

The channel added that the defect was fixed early in the morning, and attributed senior officials in Israeli military intelligence to say that specialists were called immediately and arrived after three in the morning and were able to restart the system at five in the morning, that is, an hour and a half before the start of the attack. But the remaining time was not enough to review all the information, rectify it, and find out exactly what had happened, and the attack had already begun.

High prices

In the same context, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant acknowledged on Sunday that his army is paying “very high prices” in its battles in Gaza, after announcing the killing of 11 soldiers during the past 24 hours, 8 of them in Rafah.

Gallant said – in a speech during his visit to the forces deployed on the border of the Gaza Strip near Rafah – “Here on the border in Rafah, I came to closely examine the difficult events that took place yesterday, in which we lost 11 fighters, 8 of whom are here in this sector in the Rafah area.”

He added, “We are keen to send fighters only for missions that are worthy. These missions are difficult, and unfortunately there are also very high prices.”

Since May 6, Israel has been launching a ground attack on Rafah, ignoring international warnings about the repercussions of that. The next day, it seized the Palestinian side of the Rafah land crossing with Egypt, causing it to be closed to the movement of the wounded and scarce humanitarian aid.

On June 7, the Israeli army completed its control of the Philadelphia (Salah al-Din) axis, thus completely isolating the Gaza Strip from Egyptian territory.
