The Chief of Staff of the Israeli occupation army, Herzi Halevi, said that they lost many soldiers in the Gaza Strip, but they will continue to fight to achieve his goal of “dismantling the capabilities of the Hamas movement.”
Halevi claimed that the Israeli army is approaching the stage where it can be said that it has succeeded in defeating and dismantling the Hamas battalion in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.
He added that the defeat of Hamas does not mean that it no longer exists, but it means that it is no longer able to operate as a combat unit and attack Israel.
On the other hand, the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted the leader of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, Avigdor Lieberman, as saying that Defense Minister Yoav Galant’s management of the war was a failure, and he bears responsibility directly after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Lieberman added that Israel is losing the war in the Gaza Strip, saying that its deterrence capacity is declining to zero.
He stressed that in the absence of a clear plan for the war, frustration exists among soldiers and officers in Rafah, and that the government is unable to make a decision, and is unable to achieve victory over Hamas in the south and Lebanese Hezbollah in the north.
The Israeli war, which has been ongoing on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, has resulted in more than 124,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that has claimed the lives of dozens of children.
Israel continues its war despite UN Security Council resolutions to stop it immediately, and orders from the International Court of Justice to end the invasion of Rafah, take measures to prevent acts of genocide, and improve the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
