The Palestinian prisoners’ society claims that 110 Palestinians will be released from Israeli prisons today in the third phase of a cease-fire and captive exchange contract between Israel and Hamas.
Eight captives will also be published by Hamas and other Palestinian groups, including five Thai nationals and three Israelis.
Most liberated Palestinians are expected to arrive in the Ramallah Radana region in the occupied West Bank around 12 noon, local time (10:00 am GMT), said the company of Palestinian prisoners.
This will not include 20 prisoners who will be sent in exile outside Palestine. The prisons defense group also published a list of the names and ages of prisoners to publish, which included at least 30 children.
Among the names included on the list Figure Zakaria Zubeidi, 49, a veteran of Palestinian resistance and theater director whose dramatic jailbreak of an Israeli prison in 2021 delighted the Palestinians and the sufficient security officials in Israel.
Zubeidi once directed the brigades of the Martyrs of Al-Aqsa, which is affiliated with the Fatah party which controls the Palestinian Authority (PA), and was active during the uprisings against the Israeli occupation between 2000 and 2005, reports The Associated Press.
In 2019, after Zubeidi has already served years in Israeli prisons, he was again arrested.
But in 2021, he and five other prisoners killed a maximum security prison in northern Israel, an escape which helped to consolidate the image of Zubei among the Palestinians as a folk hero.
He and the other five escapees were taken over later.
In 2006, Zubeidi created the Freedom theater from the Jenin refugee camp – his house in the north of occupied West Bank – to promote cultural resistance to Israel.
The theater, which has brought its original theatrical productions on an international tour, provides a creative outlet for men, women and local children to treat their experiences living under the Israeli occupation in the West Bank.
Violent Israeli raids are common in Jenin’s refugee camp, which is considered a Palestinian resistance center in the occupied West Bank.
The Israeli forces are currently carrying out an intensive military operation in the camp, which entered its second week and killed at least 16 Palestinians and injured dozens.
The Israeli army said on Wednesday that it had killed 18 Palestinians and arrested 60 in Jenin and Tulkarem in the context of its current functioning on occupied territory.
Thousands of people still imprisoned
The 110 Palestinians who should be released will bring a total of 400 Palestinians freed from Israeli prisons while the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas continues to hold.

Palestinian prisoners’ files do not include Palestinians detained by Israeli forces during their war against the Gaza Strip, many of whom are health workers, including Dr. Hussam Abu Safia, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza.
Israeli soldiers arrested Abu Safia on December 29 after violently attacked his hospital in the north of the Gaza Strip.
Last week, the Mezan Human Rights Center said that the Israeli authorities had extended the prohibition to prevent Abu Safia from meeting his lawyers until February 6 after the Ashkelon of Ashkelon court Israel has extended his detention without accusation until February 13.
