The Israeli occupation army decided to summon more forces to the Lebanese border after deciding to conduct a ground operation in southern Lebanon, which it said would be a “limited operation.”

The army announced in a statement that it had been decided to mobilize four reserve brigades and additional forces for operational tasks in the northern sector.

He explained that recruiting this number “will allow the continuation of operational activity against the Hezbollah terrorist organization and the achievement of operational objectives, including the safe return of the residents of northern Israel to their homes.” The statement did not provide details regarding the call-up of the new brigades.

On September 25, the occupation army summoned two reserve brigades to be sent to its northern borders.

An Israeli infantry brigade usually includes one to two thousand soldiers, while an armored tank brigade includes about 100 tanks.

We will not reach Beirut

According to army spokesman Daniel Hagari, the occupation forces “will not enter Beirut or any of the major cities in Lebanon,” and that their goal is to focus on the southern Lebanese villages “to dismantle and destroy Hezbollah’s infrastructure,” as he claimed.

Hagari said in a press conference that “the Israeli ground operation will be as short as possible,” and when asked about how long the ground operations are likely to continue, he said, “I will not reveal it to the enemy, but we are doing it in the shortest possible time, days, weeks… We will do the thing.” “What is necessary is the limited and local operation that we are conducting now.”

In the same context, the official Israeli Broadcasting Authority said, “Israel estimates that ground activity in Lebanon will continue for several weeks, which is what American officials have been informed of in recent days.”

Psychological warfare

On the other hand, during a press conference today, Hagari showed video clips showing what he said was “the discovery of weapons and tunnels during dozens of military operations carried out across the border in southern Lebanon in recent months, with the aim of destroying and neutralizing Hezbollah’s capabilities in villages and border areas.”

Hagari said that Israeli soldiers “stormed (during these operations) villages and rugged areas, and discovered underground tunnel openings in many border sites, where weapons stores and preparation sites for fighters were found.”

He claimed that “the forces also collected important intelligence information, and destroyed weapons and facilities, including underground structures and advanced Iranian-made weapons.”

Although the Israeli army announced at dawn on Tuesday the start of a ground military operation in southern Lebanon, no ground invasion was observed by the Israeli forces, while Hezbollah denied the validity of the Israeli army’s claims that it had begun its invasion of Lebanese territory and entered into direct clashes with the party’s members.

Observers consider that Israel’s announcement of the start of a ground invasion even though it did not occur is a “strategic deception that comes within the framework of psychological and media warfare.”

Home front

In the context of the war on Lebanon and the developments in Hezbollah’s bombing of northern Israel, the Israeli army’s Home Front imposed restrictions on the gathering of people in Greater Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, settlements in the northern West Bank, and other areas, for fear of being targeted by missiles launched by Hezbollah from Lebanon.

The Israeli instructions, which entered into force this afternoon and will continue until Saturday evening, stipulate that gatherings of more than 30 people are prohibited in open areas and 300 in closed areas near shelters.

The Home Front imposed restrictions on gatherings in cities and towns in northern Israel a few days ago, but expanded them to include the central regions in addition to Jerusalem and the settlements in the northern occupied West Bank, and closed the beaches.

But she said in her statement, “According to the assessment of the situation by the Home Front Command, it was decided to change the guidelines for the public.”

In the same context, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on the Israelis to adhere to the safety instructions issued by the Home Front Command.

It is noteworthy that since September 23, Israel has launched the most violent and widespread attack on Lebanon since the beginning of the confrontations with Hezbollah, which as of Tuesday morning resulted in 1,073 dead and 2,955 wounded, according to the Lebanese authorities.
