The Israeli army claims to have “eliminated” Ibrahim Aqil, a senior Hezbollah military leader, in an airstrike on Beirut on Friday. As well as at least ten military leaders of the Lebanese Shiite movement.

The Israeli strike on the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital left at least 14 dead and 66 injured, according to Lebanese health authorities.

Ibrahim Aqil was the head of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force and the Jihad Council, the group’s top military body. He was wanted by the United States for his alleged role in the bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut in 1983 (killing 63), a U.S. Marine barracks the same year (killing 241), and for directing the taking and detention of American and German hostages in Lebanon in the 1980s.

Earlier in the day, the Israeli army reported 140 rocket attacks from Lebanon.
