The attack was not claimed, but it took place a few kilometers from the town of Kiryat Shmona, which, for several months, has been regularly the target of Hezbollah rocket fire, in Lebanon.
In response to this attack, the Israeli army announced that it had targeted a Hezbollah military site in southern Lebanon.
These exchanges of fire took place as negotiations continue in Cairo to find a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
