Residents try to make their way through a mound of rubble, the result of intensive bombardment by the Israeli army in al-Maghazi in the central Gaza Strip. These airstrikes left at least five dead on Saturday evening.

Also in the center of the Palestinian enclave, in Deir Al-Balah, at least sixteen people died. Eight children are among the victims.

And despite international warnings, the Israeli army is intensifying pressure in Rafah, where it has ordered new evacuations of residents.

“In the southern Gaza Strip, forces of the 162nd Division continue their offensive against terrorist targets in eastern Rafah. This is a targeted action, based on intelligence data, against the terrorist infrastructure in the region,” said Daniel Hagari, a spokesman for the Israeli army.

After seven months of conflict, the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is more alarming than ever. According to the UN, around 300,000 people have fled Rafah this week.
