The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation said that the security establishment is studying several alternatives after the end of the “Gideon vehicles” operation that did not succeed in a shift in the issue of the prisoners, and among these alternatives is what it described as an “extremist alternative” in addition to the inclusion of lands or military rule.
The commission explained that the extremist alternative is to impose a blockade on the population gatherings in Gaza and prevent the entry of any aid, food or water, whether through trucks by land or by dropping, in order to force the Palestinians to go south.
According to the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation, whoever leaves the besieged areas will receive aid without restrictions.
The security establishment aims with this step to distinguish between civilians and members of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and will allow more intense military pressure, according to the Broadcasting Authority, which also quoted security sources as saying that they are obligated to take inappropriate steps in light of Hamas’s refusal of the deal despite the severe international pressure, pictures and claims of famine, they said.
Ink
But another source told the broadcasting body that these plans are still ink on paper, and that Israel is trying to exhaust the current negotiations, and the mediators are still trying to pressure Hamas to make a change in the talks, without making great progress.
For its part, the Israeli Channel 12 quoted sources as saying that the mini cabinet discussed a number of proposals, including a new division of the Gaza Strip before the launch of a plan to occupy its entirety.
This leak comes at a time when Reuters and French press released pictures taken – yesterday, Tuesday – showing Israeli military crowds at the border of the border with the Gaza Strip.
Conflicting goals
In the same context, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation stated that the Chief of Staff of the Army, Eyal Zamir, said – at the meeting of the mini -cabinet – that the goals of the war have become conflicting, and that if the political level decides otherwise, he must declare it explicitly as direction.
Zamir was reviewing the army’s position on the possibility of expanding the military operation to the central camps in the Gaza Strip, where the Israeli “hostages” are believed to be held there.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said – yesterday, Tuesday – that since the return of the Israeli negotiating team from Qatar, attempts to complete an exchange deal have not stopped. Netanyahu accused Hamas of being an obstacle to the completion of the deal because of its intransigence, as he put it.
For his part, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said that Israel needs to remain in the vicinity and inside of Gaza, and that it remains the possibility of working security throughout Gaza as is the case in the West Bank.
Katz added that the security responsibility in Gaza must remain in the hands of Israel, explaining that the goal is to defeat enthusiasm, so that its military or civil arms are not determined by the future of Gaza, noting that “achieving this is not easy because of the presence of the kidnappers,” as he put it.
