Israel has sworn in the retired major-general Eyal Zamir as a new military leader, replacing Lieutenant-General Herzi Halevi, who resigned in January for the military security and intelligence failures during the October 7, 2023 attack. Zamir is committed to supporting the “victory” in Gaza.
