Nablus- Once, twice, three times, there is no limit to the number of Israeli occupation incursions into the city of Jenin and its camp, and the same is true of its counterpart Nablus, Tulkarm and its camps (Tulkarm and Nur Shams) in the northern West Bank.

The occupation’s incursions continue more than once a day, and several military operations by the occupation army coincide in various cities and villages of the West Bank at the same time, and each operation has its own outcome of violations, arrests, martyrs, and destruction as well, which has become the primary goal of the occupation.

More than before, the occupation’s aggression against the West Bank has escalated even more after the war on the Gaza Strip, and every day it is more severe than before, especially with the increase in its crisis and its failure to achieve any of its declared goals in Gaza. Is Israel trying to compensate for that failure in Gaza through its unprecedented violence in the West Bank? West to achieve the image of a victory that has not yet been achieved, as you say?

A question posed by Tel Aviv Tribune Net to Palestinian politicians and experts, and they agreed that Israel is not looking for victory as much as it is pursuing systematic plans from before the war to completely Judaize and annex the West Bank, and that the war on Gaza hindered this plan.

Annihilation scheme

Dr. Mustafa Barghouti, the Palestinian politician and Secretary-General of the National Initiative Movement, says, “Israel is not looking for victory, and that it has the same plan towards Gaza and the West Bank to liquidate the Palestinian people and their cause, in addition to the fact that the war on Gaza is no less than its counterpart in the West Bank, and that it began because of the West Bank and what it is doing.” Israel includes annexation, Judaization, ethnic cleansing, and genocide of the Palestinians.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu – Barghouti explains – announced this publicly at the United Nations, when he carried the “Map of Israel,” which includes the West Bank, Gaza, and all of the occupied Golan.

Barghouti believes that Israel wants to break any resistance, whatever its form, to its plans, and that the Palestinians are witnessing a dangerous operation launched by Israel to suppress their resistance and subjugate them.

Barghouti said, “The Israeli government’s policy was summarized by its minister, Bezalel Smotrich, when he said that he would fill the West Bank with settlers, so that the Palestinians would lose any dream they had of a state, and they would have to leave, submit, or die.”

Barghouti adds that Israel, in the face of its failure in the war on Gaza, is committing the most heinous crimes in terms of quality and size, and that it “retaliates for its failure by shedding the blood of the Palestinians, and for 75 years it has been practicing ethnic cleansing and genocide against an entire people.”

Statistics from the Shirin Observatory for Documentation indicate that since the war on Gaza on October 7, Israel has killed 347 Palestinians in the West Bank and 23,843 in Gaza. It has also carried out more than 5,835 arrest operations in the West Bank and arrested 4,000 citizens in Gaza.

Israel also demolished 421 residential, agricultural and commercial facilities in the West Bank, displacing 2,599 citizens. It demolished more than 69,200 housing units in Gaza, causing the displacement of about 2 million people in the Strip.

Escalation with the aim of revenge

Hani Al-Masry, director of the Palestinian Center for Policy Research and Strategic Studies (Masarat), agrees with Barghouti that Israel escalated its aggression against the West Bank before and after the war in implementation of its government’s program to resolve the conflict, which in essence targets the West Bank and is based on annexation, complete Judaization and displacement.

Israel is also exploiting the war to prevent an uprising that it fears in the West Bank, and thus prevent an explosion and open a third front that exhausts them even more. Thus, Al-Masry tells Al-Jazeera Net, “It is escalating the West Bank not with the aim of revenge itself, as much as it is an essential part derived from the Zionist expansionist, racist, evacuation project, which stipulates the greatest A large area of land and a small population.

Al-Masri pointed out the need to pay attention to the fact that Israel benefits in both cases, in the continuation of its war in Gaza and its operations in the West Bank. It was not able to prevent the resistance in the West Bank, or stop the threat coming from Gaza, and it committed massacres, in addition to destroying the infrastructure, and this will exhaust the resistance and the people alike. For many years.

Al-Masry ended his speech by affirming that the “victory” that Israel seeks is “an excuse to implement its plans, and that the war has become a goal in itself for Israel.”

A war of existence

According to Ismat Mansour, an expert on Israeli affairs, Israel views what is happening as a “second war of existence and independence,” and it considers that changing the security reality stems from changing their outlook on conflict and confrontation. This is a “dangerous trend that puts them in a permanent state of attack, and threatens to blow up the situation in the West Bank, as well as their involvement.” Deep into Gaza, it has led to a war of attrition from which there is no way out.”

Mansour went on to say that the “extremist, aggressive and offensive view” that Israel is experiencing, and which it does not show any measures to reverse, means that the confrontation will return to square one in the West Bank, Gaza, and everywhere, and that this government has no choice but war and force.
