Since October 7, 2023, Israel has increased its violence in occupied West Bank, killing 1,000 Palestinians.

While the world was distracted by the genocidal war of Israel against Gaza, which killed more than 56,331 people and uprooted almost the entire population of 2.3 million, Israel accelerated its violent raids on the West Bank, as well as its silence while the Israeli colonists attack and kill the Palestinian villagers.

The most recent victim was Samer Bassam al-Zagharneh, a young man who was killed by Israeli soldiers on July 1.

According to the WAFA Palestinian news agency, Al-Zagharneh was killed near the separation barrier, which Israel began to build in 2002 to divide Jerusalem from the rest of the West Bank and which crosses the Palestinian communities and agricultural domains.

That’s all you need to know about how we got here.

Who attacks the Palestinians in the West Bank?

Israeli forces and Israeli colonists from the illegal colonies that suffocate the West Bank.

The settlers launch sudden and violent raids in cities, burning goods, attacking people and trying to drive them out of their homes.

At the same time, the security forces surrounded refugee camps and made them a tirelessly descent, leading even more people from their home and not allowing them to come back.

Many settlers have also received semi-automatic and “integrated” weapons in Israeli forces in the West Bank, in order to compensate for all the staff deployed to wage war against Gaza.

This scrambled the boundaries between the security forces and the colonists, which allows the latter to degenerate violence against the Palestinians.

Why is Israel doing this?

To move the Palestinians and annex their lands, according to residents, experts, rights defense groups and observers.

In 2024, Israel confiscated more Palestinian land in the West Bank than during the previous 20 years combined, according to Peace Now, an Israeli non -profit ground in Palestine.

The Minister of Finance of Israel, Bezalel Smotrich, conducted the accusation after taking control of the newly established “administration settlements” in February 2023.

The position allows Smotrich to advance the de facto annexation of Israel of the occupied West Bank by working to extend Israeli civil law over the region, in direct violation of international law.

Smotrich has approved new outposts – illegal not only under international law but also under Israeli law – confiscated land and applied “regulation and construction regulations”.

In reality, Smotrich is based on the occupation and violence of the settlers to uproot the Palestinians so that he can prolong and approve new illegal Israeli colonies, previously reported Tel Aviv Tribune.

Is violence degenerate?

Every day.

Israeli forces killed 70 Palestinians in the West Bank in the first month of 2025. In the past two months, they killed 34 people, according to Shireen Monitor, a local observatory appointed according to the Palestinian journalist Tel Aviv Tribune murdein Shireen Abu Akleh.

Many victims are the result of the current raids of Israel.

Israel says that raids must eliminate the Palestinian armed groups, which were born in 2021 to resist the worsening of worsening violence and entrenchment, in refugee camps through the West Bank.

However, Israel would have committed a myriad of human rights violations on the ground, such as killing unarmed civilians, prevent families from burying their dear murdered beings and shaving whole grounds on the ground to trigger mass movement.

Where does Israel attack?

Israel attacks the refugee camps in Jenin, Tulkarem, Nur Shams, Far’a and Nablus, generating mass travel.

Israel has used some of the same tactics that she deployed in Gaza – such as imposing a complete siege on the camps and uprooting most of the inhabitants, according to legal architecture, a research group which investigates and monitors human rights violations.

Israel has also attacked medical facilities and bombed the Tulkarem and Jenin camps, killing civilians without discrimination.

What about settlers’ attacks?

There were approximately 1,800 settlers’ attacks through the occupied West Bank between October 7, 2023 and December 16, 2024, according to data collected by technology for Palestine, a collective of technological volunteers who monitor rights violations and defend the release of the Palestinians.

In addition, the Israeli army reported that there were at least 414 settlers against the Palestinians during the first half of 2025. However, the real figure is probably higher.

Many attacks have taken place in zone C.

The 1993 Oslo agreements, which were signed between Israeli and Palestinian leaders at the time to initiate a peace process, cut the West Bank occupied in three areas: A, B and C.

Zone A is ostensibly within the framework of the administrative control and the security of the Palestinian Authority (PA) – an entity born from the Oslo agreements – while zone B is under the administrative governance of the AP and Israeli security.

Zone C represents more than 60% of the occupied West Bank and is under administrative control and Israeli security.

Is there an end in sight?

It doesn’t look like that.

The Israeli army and the settlers have intensified attacks on the Palestinians in recent days. The United Nations warned that the army is trying to expel 12 communities in Masafer Yatta, in the hills of the South of Hebron in the C. region.

Israel is trying to justify this expulsion because the region being a “military zone” and, therefore, necessary for military training – a pretext used to uproot the Palestinians of their land for decades.

On June 25, a hundred heavily armed Israeli settlers violently attacked the Palestinians in the village of Kfar Malik, killing three people. The colonists would have tried to burn houses on the ground when the Palestinians went out to try to stop them.

In the neighboring village of Taybeh, the settlers burned a car in ashes, as seen in a video obtained by B’tselem, an Israeli human rights group, monitoring the abuses against the Palestinians.

Tel Aviv Tribune spoke to several Palestinians who say they are preparing for more attacks.

They often say that they are defenseless and fear that any resistance meets greater force of Israeli troops and settlers.
