Antony Blinken discussed the post-war with Israeli Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The American Secretary of State wants to involve all countries in the region in the reconstruction of Gaza.
Antony Blinken continues his diplomatic tour in the Middle East to try to avoid a conflagration in the region. After meeting with the Saudi crown prince, the American Secretary of State met this Tuesday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to begin a deescalation in the Palestinian enclave and on the Lebanese border, as well as discussions on the post- war.
Washington has just obtained the support of Arab countries and Turkey for the reconstruction of Gaza, and is now demanding the involvement of the Jewish state.
There are still many voices calling for an immediate ceasefire. Several demonstrations were organized in major Israeli cities to denounce the slowness of diplomatic discussions.
But negotiations for a new truce have stalled, as Israeli forces continue their massive land and air incursion into southern Gaza. The offensive has already killed more than 23,000 Palestinians and displaced two thirds of the 2.3 million Gazans according to Hamas.
