The Israeli military claims to have discovered another underground network of what it describes as “terrorist tunnels” connecting the north and south of the Gaza Strip.

The destruction of these tunnels was one of the main objectives of the Israeli army. According to the IDF, these are used by Hamas to move fighters and weapons across the enclave.

The Israeli military also presented the war cabinet with a plan to evacuate civilians from combat zones, despite international calls for it to cancel the operation.

For its part, the Palestinian Red Crescent has meanwhile managed to evacuate 24 people from al-Amal hospital, near Khan Younis. Since the start of the Israeli offensive in Gaza on October 7, the hospital center was overwhelmed by the arrival of wounded, and its reserves of care and medical equipment were increasingly low.

In the occupied West Bank, President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, accepted the resignation of his Prime Minister’s government. A decision which demonstrates the desire of the Palestinian leaders, supported by the West, to accept reforms, to resume management of the Gaza Strip once the war is over.

American President Joe Biden assures him that Israel would cease its military operations against Hamas in the Gaza Strip during Ramadan if an agreement on hostages is concluded. Talks are still underway, also supported by Egypt and Qatar.
