While Western countries initially expressed unconditional support for Israel after the October 7 attacks, some eventually began to express concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis and civilian death toll in Gaza. French President Emmanuel Macron was one of the few Western leaders to call for a ceasefire a month after the Israeli offensive began.
