The Israeli army warned that the country is awaiting difficult days after its assassination of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, and decided to impose restrictions on gatherings starting today, Saturday, in anticipation of any escalation.

In his first statement after Hezbollah acknowledged the killing of its Secretary-General, Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said that his country faces difficult days full of challenges.

He added, “We are on alert for defense and attack, and the public must adhere to the instructions.”

Prohibition of gatherings

Due to Israel’s fears of the party’s escalation, Hagari announced that it was decided, as of today, to ban gatherings of more than 1,000 people in the central regions of the country, based on the instructions of Defense Minister Yoav Galant.

He pointed out that the army will immediately inform the public of any new update on the instructions on the home front.

He spoke about the difficult days and challenges facing Israel in the current circumstance, noting that there are more tasks that they must accomplish, such as returning detainees (Israeli prisoners in Gaza), as well as residents of the north and south who were displaced after the start of the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023. And clashes with Hezbollah the next day.

Hagari considered that Nasrallah had long been one of Israel’s greatest enemies, claiming that he and other Hezbollah leaders were legitimate targets for its elimination within the framework of international law (..) and that eliminating him would make the world a safer place, as he put it.

The Israeli army spokesman vowed to continue carrying out assassinations against Hezbollah leaders.

The assassination of Nasrallah

Earlier Saturday, the Israeli army announced that it was able to assassinate Nasrallah, in an air strike on the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Friday evening, launched by Israeli F-35 fighter jets on a site in the Haret Hreik area in the southern suburb of Beirut, the main stronghold of Hezbollah. Hezbollah later acknowledged that With the assassination of Nasrallah.

Since September 23, the Israeli army has launched the most violent and widespread attack on Lebanon since the beginning of the confrontations with Hezbollah on October 8, which as of Saturday morning resulted in 1,640 deaths, including children and women, and 8,408 wounded, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

On the other hand, sirens continue to sound in Israel, after Hezbollah fired hundreds of rockets at military sites, settlements and cities that reached Tel Aviv, amid a strict blackout on human and material losses, according to observers.

Since last October 8, Lebanese and Palestinian factions in Lebanon, most notably Hezbollah, have exchanged daily bombardments with the Israeli army across the Blue Line, resulting in hundreds killed and wounded, most of them on the Lebanese side.
