The Israeli army exploded around twenty buildings in the Jénine refugee camp, in the occupied West Bank, local media reported on Sunday.

These attacks took place while Israel has extended its military operations in the urban refugee camp for a second week.

During the creation of Israel in 1948, thousands of Palestinians who lived there were driven from their home. Some of them settled in a refugee camp in Jenine, where their families still live today.

In the aftermath of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, the Israeli army launched the operation baptized “Steel Wall”, claiming that it was attacking militant groups supported by Iran, especially Hamas and Islamic jihad.

On Saturday, five Palestinians were killed by Israeli air strikes, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Before Saturday, Palestinian officials said that at least 18 Palestinians, including a two -year -old girl, had been killed in the refugee camp.

Israel invaded the West Bank in 1967 and occupied it since then.

Many Jewish colonies have been built there and, under international law, the occupation is considered illegal.
