Today, Saturday, the Israeli army issued new instructions to the home front in the northern regions, including closing beaches and imposing restrictions on gatherings and educational activities, in light of the escalation against Lebanon and Hezbollah amid international and regional warnings and fears of the outbreak of a comprehensive war.
The spokesman for the occupation army, Daniel Hagari, said in a statement that it was decided to make changes to the defense policy of the Home Front Command in the areas of the Lower Galilee, the Upper Galilee, the Central Galilee, and some settlements in northern Israel, while Yedioth Ahronoth explained that the area designated by Hagari extends from the city of Haifa to the border with Lebanon.
Hagari explained that these changes include instructions to the Home Front Command in that area, including limiting gatherings to a maximum of 30 people in open spaces, and 300 people in closed buildings, noting that educational activities can be held in locations that allow access to protected spaces.
The military spokesman also indicated that the beaches in these areas will remain closed to the public as part of the security measures in place, and in light of a “new wave” of escalation, after Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant announced on Thursday evening that the war with Hezbollah had entered a “new phase.”
Suspension of study
While Israeli Channel 12 said that there is a state of high alert in the security and military establishment inside Israel amid the possibility of a major escalation by Hezbollah soon, Hebrew media reported that the city of Acre and adjacent areas announced the suspension of studies tomorrow, Sunday, due to the security situation.
This comes as the war between Hezbollah and Israel escalated following bombings of communications devices across Lebanon last Tuesday and Wednesday, which left 39 dead and more than 3,000 wounded.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced today, Saturday, that the number of people killed in the Israeli raid that targeted Hezbollah leaders yesterday in the southern suburb of the capital Beirut has risen to 37 people, including 3 children and 7 women, noting that the work of removing the rubble is still ongoing.
