Israel calling tens of thousands of reservists to extend the war to Gaza | News Israel-Palestine Conflict

The decision comes despite global indignation on the humanitarian blockade and calls to reach the sustainable ceasefire.

The Israeli army will call tens of thousands of reservists to extend the country’s assault against the besieged Gaza Strip, said army chief Eyal Zamir.

He made this announcement Sunday after the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to continue the war despite the growing calls from the interior of Israel for an agreement that would bring the Israeli captives to the house held in Gaza and ended the war, which killed more than 52,000 Palestinians.

“This week, we send tens of thousands of orders to our reserve staff to intensify and develop our action to Gaza. We increase the pressure to bring our people (detainee to Gaza) and defeat Hamas,” said Zamir, adding that Israeli infrastructure “would operate in additional areas and destroy the entire (Hamas) infrastructure (Hamas).

The military chief made this announcement during a visit to the Atlit naval base on the northern Mediterranean coast of Israel.

The announcement presented itself before a meeting of the security firm in search of Netanyahu to discuss an expansion of the war in Gaza, which began in October 2023 and decimated the Palestinian enclave.

An increasing movement in Israel called at the end of the war, and a growing number of reservists ignore calls.

Two government representatives told the Reuters news agency that the cabinet would also discuss the possible resumption of Aid to Gaza while humanitarian groups have warned against increased famine in the territory since Israel imposed a total blockage on March 2.

Israel continues to cope with a widespread global indignation in the face of the conduct of its war in Gaza, which broke the infrastructure of the territory as well as its health system and moved the vast majority of its 2.3 million residents at least once since the start of the war.

The Israeli Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, in an Israeli army radio interview, said that he wanted to see a “powerful” expansion of war but has not revealed details on what the new plans could involve.

“We have to increase the intensity and continue until we get a total victory. We have to win a total victory,” he said. He demanded that Israel bombard “food and electricity supplies” in Gaza.

The main humanitarian groups, including the Red Cross, warned that the humanitarian response to Gaza is about to “collapse total” and that the Palestinians are faced with a “daily struggle to survive” in the middle of bombing and paralyzing blocking.

The United Nations agencies have said that truck convoys carrying border aid strengthened on the border and have not been allowed to enter the enclave, where a famine is looming.

Israeli officials say that a widen military offensive would pressure Hamas to release the remaining 59 captives, but criticisms argue that it endangers their lives. Israel ending the fragile ceasefire, which saw Palestinian prisoners exchanged for Israeli captives, March 18 led to more outings.

The reserve calls come out while Netanyahu promised to respond to the Yemen Houthis after the rebels fired a missile that took a road at Israel Ben Gurion International Airport, injuring six people and encouraging several large airlines to suspend flights.

Netanyahu said the answer will take place “both and in place of our choice”.

The Houthis said that their fighters had led the assault “in support of the oppressed Palestinian people” and to counter the “genocide crime” of Israel in Gaza.
