As Israeli aggression expands into the central Gaza Strip, civilian casualties are increasing due to bombings of residential homes in Deir el-Balah and the al-Zawaida refugee camp.
At least 15 civilians were killed Thursday evening in Israeli air attacks on homes housing four families. Dozens of people were injured and others remained under the rubble.
Sumayya Ahmed, an elderly woman who was in the attacked residential building in Deir el-Balah, said her family members were preparing to sleep when the attack occurred around 10:30 p.m.
“My sister, her husband and her children were all killed,” she said. “Many other children were trapped under furniture and screaming for help. »
“Below us are two other families, all gone. Everyone left,” she added.
Doctors were only able to extract the bodies and the injured in the morning. Ahmed said dozens of people had taken shelter in the building, including displaced relatives and friends from the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in the north.
“Our house there was destroyed. Our children were killed,” she said.
According to her, this is not the first time that Israeli forces have attacked the area surrounding the building. Before Wednesday night’s attack, multiple airstrikes had damaged windows and parts of the kitchen, Ahmed said.
