Gaza Sescureurs said that Israeli attacks close to the European hospital killed at least 28 people after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the soldiers would enter Gaza “with full force” in the coming days.
The Gaza Civil Defense Agency said that at least 28 people were killed on Tuesday in Israeli attacks around Khan Younis hospital in southern Gaza.
The rescue organization said in a brief declaration that the bodies of certain victims could not be recovered because they were “dispersed in the hospital area” from the intensity of the Israeli bombardment.
After reports indicated that a second cycle of Israeli missiles struck the area to dissuade the rescue operations, the agency confirmed that the Israeli army “deliberately targeted anyone who tried to reach” the wounded.
The Israeli army said it had struck a “Hamas command center” under the hospital, without providing any evidence.
Earlier Tuesday, the Israeli army said it had led “a targeted attack” against the Nasser medical complex, also in Khan Younis, killing two people, including Palestinian journalist Hassan Eslai.
The Gaza Government’s media office confirmed the murder of Eslaih, which received treatment at the hospital’s burning unit for serious injuries suffered during an Israeli strike on April 7 on a media tent located next to the hospital.
The War of Israel against Gaza killed at least 52,908 Palestinians and injured 119,721, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health. The government’s media office has updated its number of deaths at more than 61,700, saying that thousands of people missing under the rubble are presumed dead.
It is estimated that 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the attacks led by Hamas on October 7, 2023 and more than 200 others were taken in captivity.
